LOUISVILLE, KY - Josh Bolen smacked a two run home run over the fence in right center with two out in the eighth inning, to give the University of Louisville a 5-3 win over Cincinnati Sunday at Cardinal Stadium.
The Cards improve to 19-8 overall and 8-4 in Conference USA, taking two out of three this weekend form the Bearcats(12-18-1, 2-9-1).
Cardinal starter Mike Tisdale (4-1) went the route, allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out four to pick up the win.
Cincinnati plated an unearned run in the first, taking a 1-0 lead, but the Card answered back for three in the second.
Morgan Bojorquez singled to lead off and advanced to third when a ground ball off the bat of DH Ken Tirpack was mishandled by UC shortstop Brad Schutz.
Catcher Fernando Isa doubled home Bojorquez, a sacrifice fly to center by Mike Budak plated Tirpack, and Dave Williams Jr.'s two out single scored Isa, to give the Cards a 3-1 advantage.
Cincinnati fought back to even the slate at three in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Nate Fish and run scoring single by second baseman Jameson Parker.
Bojorquez singled with two out in the eighth ahead of Bolen, who had flown out to deep centerfield twice in the game. He pounded a 3-2 pitch into the bleachers for his seventh home run of the year, and a 5-3 Cardinal lead.
Tisdale retired the final seven batters of the game in order after the RBI single by Parker in the seventh.
B.J. Borsa (3-5) took the loss, matching Tisdale's effort with two earned runs on nine hits and four strikeouts in eight frames.
Bojorquez had three hits on the day, scoring twice and shortstop Adam Haley had a pair of singles on the day.
Louisville will play a midweek game at Western Kentucky on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., before heading to Hattiesburg, Missisippi for a three-game series against Southern Miss over the weekend.
