Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville men's head soccer coach Tony Colavecchia has announced that twin brothers Fernando and Felipe Tolomelli have signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at UofL.
Fernando Tolomelli, a midfielder from East Central College in Union, Mo, finished second in the National Junior College Athletic Association scoring 32 goals in only 20 games and dishing out seven total assists. He played his 2000 season at State Fair Community College, and was named second team all- region. Colavecchia said, "He is a very technical player that should help out tremendously with our attack. Fernando and Simon Bird will be a striker partnership that should be difficult for any opponents defense."
Felipe Tolomelli, along with his twin brother Fernando, played NJCAA soccer at East Central College in Union, Mo. "He is a solid midfielder who has a tremendous work ethic. He can play a defensive or attacking role in midfield," said Colavecchia.
Last season at East Central College, Felipe scored a total of nine points off two goals and five assists. Colavecchia also said, "Our midfield is definitely a part of our team that needs improvement. Felipe will give us more possession since he is a very technical player. Knowing that his brother will play in attack, I am confident they will link well together and they will provide the team with more combination play."
Felipe also played his 2000 career at Sate Fair Community College. Felipe and his brother Fernando are originally from Brazil.
