Memphis, Tenn. - The University of Louisville women's golf team finished third in the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate Golf Tournament today. Host Memphis won the tournament with a score of 915, holding onto to their 22-stroke lead from yesterday. Central Florida finished second with a three round total of 937, while the Cardinals shot a 312 today for a final score of 941.
"The conditions were really windy today," said head coach Kelly Meyers. "The course played very difficult. Everyone did their job today but we just couldn't bring it in today. Now we know what we need to go back and work on."
Pasechnik led the Cards today shooting a final round of 77. She finished just four strokes off the lead in fourth place. Memphis' Jennifer Jaszek won the titlest honors with a score of 224. Central Florida's Federica Piovano tied with the Tigers' Meaghan Francella for second with a score of 227.
"It felt like nothing was going my way today," said Pasechnik. "I managed to pull through with a decent score. But it was frustrating not knowing where I stood all day. And had I known I was just one stroke from second and just four stokes off the lead I would have played more aggressively and put some pressure on Jaszek."
Ali Wright also shot a 77 today for a score of 230. She finished the tournament right behind Pasechnik in fifth place.
Sophomore Morgan Hapney shot a 78 today, despite her double-bogey for a score of 243. Meghan Little shot an 80 to finish the tournament with a score of 252. And Jessica Kell shot an 81 for a final score of 252.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Sept. 29 at the Nittany Lion Invitational.
