
Men's Soccer Wins Louisville Classic

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team defeated Central Florida 3-0 in the final game of the Louisville Soccer Classic in Cardinal Park. The Cardinal improve to 5-2 on the season and Central Florida falls to 0-5-1.
The Cardinals took control of the second half, scoring in the 53rd minute of play. Sophomore Courtenay Commander scored his first goal of the season off an assist by Stuart Langrish.
Commander scored a second goal in the 73rd minute of play off a header from Shawn Faria. Junior George Zabaneh scored in the 83rd minute with an unassisted shot straight up the middle.
Louisville goalkeeper Jeremy Morales recorded his fourth straight shut out of the season. Morales was also named the tournament's defensive MVP. Sophomore George Zabaneh was named the offensive MVP.
Louisville senior Shawn Faria was named to the All-Tournament team along with teammates Adam Ottembrajt, Adrian Cann and Neil Mahoney.
"I am very proud of this team," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "This is our fourth straight shut out and that goes to our unsung heroes Brad DeVilbiss and Neil Mahoney.
"It is nice to have different players step up every game. The strength of this team is our bench. It once again was a total team effort."
Louisville will travel to Bloomington on Thursday to take on defending national champions Indiana at 7:00 p.m.
In the first game, No. 19 Akron and Evansville tied 1-1 in double overtime. Akron's Orjan Bjaneso scored off an assist from David Senn. Evansville knotted the game up in the 60th minute of play. Jeff Rymer dribble the ball up the middle off an assist from Terence Garantini.
