LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Benny Flynn of Louisville Male High School has signed a national-letter-of-intent to continue her volleyball career at the University of Louisville.
"Benny is a great all-around player and we are very pleased to add her to our roster," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "We have seen her come up through the club system and really help take Male High School to the next level."
The 6-0 outside hitter helped guide Male to its first-ever win in a State Tournament match. Flynn has a Cardinal connection as her high school coach Denise (Dzik) Ranney is a former setter for the Cardinals. Flynn earned all-district, all-region and first team All-State honors in 1998 and 1999.
Active in club ball, she played for U of L assistant coach Rick Nold at the Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy. She was a member of the 1998 AAU National Championship Team and was a two-time AAU All-American for her U-16 and U-17 teams.
Flynn joins Anastasia Zaitseva of Moscow, Russia and Bing Sun of Beijing, China on the Cardinals' newcomer list. The Cardinals have one remaining scholarship to award.
