LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team defeated the University of Cincinnati 2-1, finishing fourth place in the conference.
The Cardinals' leading scorer George Zabaneh scored the first goal off a deflection from Justin Prather at the 24:29 mark. Zabaneh scored the game winning goal at the 68:23 off a breakaway from Justin Prather. The Bearcats' Chris Vehr scored an assisted goal at the 86:18 mark, but it was not enough as the Bearcats fell to 9-7 overall and 3-5 in Conference USA.
"I was very proud of this team," said Coach Tony Colavecchia. "This game says a lot about this team. They have struggled at times this season but hung in there to finish fourth in a tough conference. Jeremy Morales was a significant factor in this game. And George Zabaneh came up big for us tonight as well. It was a good win over a good team and assures us a spot in the Conference USA Tournament."
Louisville will be the fourth seeded team and will play at 8:30 p.m. next Thursday (Nov. 11). The team is yet to be determined.
