Kohler Leads Baseball Past South Florida 16-10

TAMPA, Fla. - Louisville opened a weekend series at South Florida with an impressive 16-10 victory Friday night in Tampa.
Down 9-5, the Cards (9-17-1, 3-3-1) erupted for five runs in the fifth, three of those coming on a bases loaded double by shortstop Scott Kohler, to take the lead for good at 10-9.
Center fielder Mike Hook, Kohler and catcher Tony Taylor each had three hits. Kohler drove in four runs, while the 7-8-9 hitters - DH Robby Williams, Taylor and second baseman Kyle Rajsich - combined to go 5-for-10 with seven RBI, three walks and five runs scored.
Bulls (14-16, 2-5) reliever Jimmy Daniels (0-2) was torched for all five runs in the fifth, his only inning of work, on four hits and two walks to pick up the loss.
Cards hurler Brad Mattingly (5-3) tossed 5.2 innings in relief giving up one unearned run on five hits a walk and two strikeouts in picking up his third win in five outings.
Louisville also plated five runs in the sixth inning despite the only hit coming on first baseman Curtis Sapp's leadoff single to extend the lead to 15-9 . There were four walks, a steal of home Hook, a wild pitch and an error. Taylor added his second home run of the season for the final Cardinal run.
