Evansville Tops Baseball Cardinals 11-4

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The left side of Evansville's infield went 6-for-9 with two doubles, a home run and six RBI as the Aces defeated Louisville 11-4 Wednesday afternoon at Carson Center Field.
Trailing 4-0 in the third, Cardinal SS Scott Kohler drove in two runs on a a single to centerfield to pull the Cards to within two. The Aces responded with two more in the fourth and then secured the win with five in the eighth to complete the three-game season sweep.
Kohler finished 3-for-4 with three RBI to raise his batting average to a team-high .363. Third baseman Kevin Martinez added a double and 2B Matt Jarboe had a single and two runs scored for the Cards.
Evansville 3B Ryan Connors was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while SS Wes Carroll was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI as the Aces improved to 22-7 on the year.
Cardinal starter Mike Gardner (0-2) pitched four innings, giving up six runs, four earned, on four hits to take the loss. Wes Davis (2-0) picked up the win for Evansville.
Louisville (10-19-1) travels to Hattiesburg, Miss., Friday to begin a three-game Conference USA series against Southern Mississippi.
