LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Cardinals dropped to 2-11 on the season with a 5-3 loss to Wright State at Cardinal Stadium.
Each team could muster just five hits on the afternoon but Wright State was able to put up a pair of runs in the third and fourth inning and a single tally in the ninth.
U of L got all three of its runs in the fifth inning when Raider starter Scott Marshall hit a pair of Cardinals with two out. Senior catcher Curtis Sapp followed with a drive over the right center field wall for his first home run of the season.
Cardinal starter Todd Raithel tossed a complete game, striking out 14 but watched his record drop to 0-3.
U of L freshman David Williams reached base in all four of his plate appearances. The Miami native doubled, singled and was hit twice by WSU pitches.
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday when they open a two-game series against the Florida Gators in Gainesville.
