NEW ORLEANS - Tulane pounded out 15 hits to defeat Louisville 15-0 in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. The teams tied 3-3 in game two.
In the late game of Sunday's duo, each team scored three runs after seven sending the game into extra innings. Neither the Cardinals nor the Green Wave could manufacture any runs after the seventh and recorded the first ever tie between Conference USA teams. The game had to be called because Louisville had to catch a flight back home.
Mike Hook, Scott Kohler and Kyle Rajsich each had two hits, while Curtis Sapp drove in a pair of runs for the Cardinals. Todd Raithel gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits in six and a third innings. Sean Green pitched a scoreless two and third before the game was called.
Tulane took the first game of the twinbill 15-0, as Jared Berkowitz (5-1) recorded his second complete game shutout of the season. Berkowitz scattered three hits over seven innings and tied a season high eight strikeouts. He is currently on a 23 scoreless inning streak. With the win, Berkowitz is two wins shy of breaking the Tulane career victories record.
James Jurries recorded a game-high three RBI, as well as his first home run of the year for Tulane. He was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI on the day. McKee and Jake Gautreau each sent in two runs.
Louisville (6-15-1, 1-1-1 C-USA) travels to Bowling Green Wednesday to take on Western Kentucky.
