Brianna McCarthy currently serves as the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Operations & Academic Services. She oversees the day-to-day operations and academic support for the men's and women's track & field/cross country program. McCarthy also coordinates the athletic department's national and conference academic award nominations. She has completed the UofL Athletics Leadership Development Institute (2023) and Coaching the Whole Athlete Program, ACC Athletic Leaders program (2024).
Brianna came to UofL in March 2020 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She joined SIUE Athletics Academic Advising as a graduate assistant in August 2016 and was named academic advisor in June 2018.  She provided academic support for baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, and wrestling. Her responsibilities also included serving as the advisor for SAAC (student-athlete advisory committee), member of the student-athlete care team, and coordinated the end-of-year award show for the athletic department. In 2019, Brianna was named the SIUE Kimmel Student Involvement New Advisor of the Year.Â
A native of California, Kentucky, McCarthy was a track & field student-athlete at Murray State University from 2011 to 2016. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Murray State University in 2016 and a Master of Science in Education-College Student Personnel Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2018.
She is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), Women Leaders in College Sports, and a contributing author of The Dynamic Student Development Meta-Theory textbook.
