UofL Falls to No 20-ranked California on Day 3

CARY, N.C. -- The No. 63-ranked University of Louisville women's tennis team bowed out of the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Championship with a 4-1 loss to No. 20-ranked California Thursday at the Cary Tennis Park.

The Cardinals (13-10, 4-8 in the ACC) dropped the doubles point when the No. 4-ranked pair of Jessica Alsola / Mao Mushika downed UofL's Alice Otis and Allie Gretkowski 6-2. Cal clinched the point with a win at Court 3 when Lan Mi and Naomi Xu downed Elena Noguero and Elisabeth Iila 6-4.

The Bears, who have three top 50 players in their lineups, scored the first singles point when No. 49-ranked Jessica Alsola of Cal cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Lika Peresypkina at Court 2. No. 28-ranked Mao Mushika downed No. 111-ranked Alice Otis 6-2, 6-3 to take the score to 3-0.

Louisville's Allie Gretkowski won her first set over Berta Folch 6-1 but then fell 6-1 in the second set. Gretkowski scored UofL's single point with a 6-2 comeback win.

The match was clinched at Court 6 where Cal's Naomi Xu outlasted a tenacious Elisabeth Iila, who battled to keep the Cards alive but fell in a tiebreaker in the second set. 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
