LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-3 in a tightly contested ACC match with Syracuse Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals took the doubles point when Alice Otis and Allie Gretkowski rolled 6-1 over Nelly Knezkova and Anastasia Sysoeva at No. 1. The point was clinched for the Cards when Berta Miret and Lika Peresypkina combined forces to down Miyuka Kimoto and Shiori Ito 6-2 at No. 2. At No. 3 Elena Noguero and Elisabeth Iila's match with Monika Wojcik and Serafima Shastova went unfinished with the clinch.

In singles, Allie Gretkowski scored the first point on Court 4 where she won in a quick three sets, 6-0, 2-6, 6-2. Alice Otis finished next with an upset of No. 108-ranked Miyuko Kimoto 7-5, 6-4. Down 3-0, the Orange pushed back, posting wins at Nos. 3, 5 and 6. The match came down to Court 2 where Louisville's Lika Peresypkina took Nelly Knezkova to three sets and had a 5-3 lead in the third before falling 7-5.
