Bio
2015: Janelle earned second team All-AVCA East Region honors and was voted second team All-ACC. She had 354 kills, with 22 assists, 28 aces, 288 digs and 93 blocks in 2015. She was named to the All-Illini Classic team after leading UofL to a 2-1 mark for the Classic. Janelle had 46 kills, hit .430, three aces and 11 blocks. The junior had nine double-doubles, including ones against Minnesota, Wisconsin, Miami and Florida State. She had 17 matches of 12 or more kills and 11 double digit dig matches. She is one of the main reasons that the Louisville offense was second in the conference in hitting percentage and first in kills per set. She plays all six rotations, hits equally effectively from the back row and is quick and long on defensive digs. She is a member of the ACC Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
2014: Janelle earned All-ACC First Team as well as ACC All-Academic honors. She started every match for the Cardinals in her sophomore year. She was second on the team with 347 kills (3.04/set) and second on the team in blocks (85). Janell had double-digit kills in 23 matches and had a career-high 17 kills versus Syracuse. Jenkins had 10 double-doubles on the season and had a season-high seven blocks against Florida State. Jenkins was named to All-Tournament at the Morehead Invitational and was named All-Rice Invitational.
2013: In her first healthy season as a Cardinal, Janelle started every match for UofL. She was fourth on the team in kills with 246 and third on the team in blocks. Janelle had double digit kills in nine matches with a season and career high 16 kills at Kentucky. She had season and career high 10 blocks versus Temple and hit .520 versus USF. She recorded a season high 17 points versus Virginia Tech in the five set showdown.
2012: Janelle used a medical redshirt her first year.
High School: Janelle Jenkins came to Louisville from Carroll High School where she played for Coach Arthur Stanfield. She played her club ball at Skyline Dallas Juniors for Coach Kirk Perry. Her 2010 USA Junior Olympics Select Team finished second in Open Division and in 2010 she was selected to compete in second round for position on USA Team for 17 year olds. In 2008, she was a member of the A2 team. For Skyline, she was voted to the area's 2010 Volleyball Super Team while leading in hitting average in overall select club statistics. For her high school as a senior, she was the Lone Star Prep Volleyball Player of the Week and was named Offensive Player of the Arlington Tournament, as well as All-Allen Tournament. As a junior, she was Varsity Volleyball 6-5A Blocker of the Year. She was a three-time All-District performer and district MVP in 2011.
Personal: She is the daughter of Nate and Tannie Jenkins. She was born April 25, 1994. Her major is MAT (Master of Art Teaching) middle school math
