Bio
2016: Tess was named to the All-ACC Second Team for the third straight year. Clark was named to the All-Active Ankle Challenge Team after registering 40 kills, eight block assists, and two digs in the tournament. She posted a career-high in assists with two when Louisville hosted Florida State, also recording 13 kills and two block assists. In Louisville’s five-set win over Lipscomb, she finished with a career-high 10 block assists to go along with 10 kills and one solo block. A career-high eight digs came against Syracuse as she also tallied 10 kills, one ace, and one block assist. Tess finished the season with 265 kills and averaging 2.43 kills per set, 96 block assists, 44 digs, nine solo blocks, eight assists, and four aces. In her junior season, Tess received All-ACC Academic Honors for the third time and was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the second time.
2015: Tess Clark was named to the ACC’s second team as a sophomore. She recorded 117 blocks, averaging 1.0 per set. She was ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation in hitting percentage as she hit .441 with 270 kills with one ace and 29 digs. She was named ACC Player of the Week when she led the Cardinals to two conference victories, including a five-set win over No. 20 Florida State. The sophomore had a 15-kill, five-block outing in the Cardinals’ 3-1 win over Miami before finishing with 14 kills and four blocks against the Seminoles. She was All-Active Ankle Challenge after helping UofL to wins over Utah, Seton Hall and Ohio. She hits .396 vs. regionally ranked teams. She hit a season high .760 vs. Ohio with five other matches hitting better than .650. Over the summer she competed for the US National Collegiate Team. She is a member of the ACC Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
2014: In her freshman year, Tess earned Second Team All-ACC honors as well as being named to the ACC All-Freshman team. She was named the AVCA East Region Freshman of the Year. Tess received the starting nod in all 30 matches and was named ACC Freshman of the Week honors after matches against NC State and Syracuse. She recorded 11 double-doubles and led the team with 133 blocks (1.17/set). Tess was third on the team with 277 kills (2.43/set) and notched a career-high 18 kills vs. Georgia Tech. She also had a career-high 11 blocks at Pittsburgh. Clark was ranked No. 14 in the nation in hitting percentage (.407) and was ranked No. 90 in the nation in blocks per set. She was also named to the All-Rice Invitational.
Prep: Tess Clark came to the Cardinals from Horizon High School where she played for Coach Valorie McKenzie. Playing for Revolution Volleyball Academy under Coach Amanda Liebermann, she helped win the 2013 Arizona Region 17-Open Championship. As a member of AZU-16 Premier, she was runner up in the Fiesta Classic Tournament. On AZU 15 Premier, she won the Colorado Crossroads Championship. As a part of USA Volleyball, she was named to the 2013 USA Junior National Champion 17 Gold All-Tournament Team when her team finished third in the Gold Division. She attended the 2012 High Performance Camp and that same year finished third in the USAV Junior Nationals. She played on the Youth National Team in 2011. At AAUs 18-Open, she helped her team to a ninth place finish. Her high school highlights include the 2010 State Championship and making the 2013 Nike Tournament of Champions All-Tournament Team after her Horizon team finished third. In 2012, Horizon won the Arizona State Championship and she was an honorable mention all-state selection.
