Junior: David took 6th place in the 3-meter board at the Big East Championship. He went on to the NCAA Zone meet as well. He dove in the 1- and 3-meter events for the Cardinals during his junior year. Against Kentucky, he placed first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter events. David also came in second in the 1- and 3-meter events against Notre Dame.
Sophomore: As a sophomore, David made the B-final at the 2009 BIG EAST where he posted a score of 263.7. At Zone B, he scored 231.5 in the 1-meter and 254.25 on the 3-meter board.
Freshman: As a freshman, David was a consistent diver for the Cardinals in his initial season. He set his lifetime best at Miami of Ohio in the 1-meter board. He set a benchmark in the 3-meter event against Kentucky. Both were in the 6-dive format.
Prep: David joined the Louisville roster from Potomac, Md. where he attended Winston Churchill High School and dove for Rodney Van Tassel. He was an All-American Qualifier and finished sixth at the Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Championships in 2007. He also competed for the distinguished Montgomery Dive Club for Ivan Bondarenko. Zamkov finished 13th on 3-meter synchro at USA Senior Nationals in 2007 where his team finished fourth overall. He was also recruited by Delaware, Alabama and Tennessee.
Personal: He is the son of Eileen Zamkov. He was born Dec. 14, 1989. He plans on majoring in communication.
Cardinal Highlight: David competed at Diving's NCAA Zone B meet in the 2009 postseason.
