Bio
Junior: Did not compete for the Cardinals.
Sophomore: Ashley qualified for the NCAAs as a relay swimmer. At ACCs, she scored 42 points for the Cardinals. She made the A-final in the 100-back, finishing 8th with a 53.12. She won the B-final in the 200-back with a time of 1:55.18. In the dual season, she was always in the mix for the Cards. She had six top three finishes in the 100-back highlighted by a 54.21 at the UofL Invitational. She had wins in the 200-back against Xavier and Florida State. At the Arena Pro Series in Indy, she was a finalist in the 100-meter back (1:03.39) and in the 200-meter back with a 2:21.80. At Charlotte, she finished 18th in the 50-meterback with a 29.83 She was a qualifier for the US Olympic Team Trials. At the US Open Championships in August, she was a part of the third place 4x100 meter medley relay team that went 4:09.80 including her leadoff leg of 1:05.01. An outstanding student, she was named to the All-ACC Academic team.
Freshman: Ashley LeClair lent depth in the backstroke and sprint corps for the Cardinals and earned All-ACC honors. . At the ACC Championships, she made the B-final and finished 10th overall in 200 back with a time of 1:57.01. She also swam the third leg of 400 Free Relay with a split of 50.05 and a third place finish at ACCs. She also competed in the 100- and 200-M backstroke at USA Nationals. In the dual season, highlights include a third place in the 50-free (24.43.) vs. Cincinanti, a fourth place versus Indiana in the 200-back, and a second in the 200 back versus Florida State (2:02.49)
Prep: A Louisville native, Ashley came to the Cardinals after attending Sacred Heart Academy. Under Coach Jim Luebbe, Ashley was named 2012 Athlete of the Year as a sophomore and was also a two-time team captain. She was also team captain for Lakeside Seahawks Club and was a qualifier for Junior Nationals and Nationals. She placed second at the NCSA Junior Nationals and held the Kentucky state record in the 200 LCM backstroke in 2010 and 2011.
Personal: Daughter of Michael and Lori LeClair. Born on January 10, 1996. Major is elementary education.
