Casey Bonk is in her first season as UofL’s Director of Softball Operations.
Prior to joining the Cardinals, Bonk spent four seasons (2014-18) as an Assistant Director of Media Relations at the University of Pittsburgh. In that capacity, Bonk served as the primary communications contact for the softball and volleyball programs and worked as the media contact for the Pitt gymnastics team.
During her time at Pitt, Bonk oversaw the media relations aspects of the gymnastics program’s first East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship (2015), the softball program’s first ACC and NCAA Tournament appearances, which included trips to the ACC championship game and regional final (2016) and volleyball’s 2017 NCAA Tournament appearance.
As an undergraduate intern, Bonk gained experience working with a variety of sports including: football, men’s basketball and softball. Additionally, she traveled as the acting SID with the swimming and diving program to the Big East Championships in 2013 and multiple series with the Pitt softball program in 2014. Bonk also volunteered at the 2012 NCAA DI Men’s Basketball Second and Third rounds in Pittsburgh.
Bonk was the recipient of the 2013-14 Fred Nuesch-Dave Wohlhueter Scholarship, a grant that was awarded through the CoSIDA Undergraduate Scholarship Program.
While at Pitt, Bonk was a four-year member of the Pitt club softball team in which she served as president for two of those years. She managed and oversaw more than 20 student-athletes in an athletic and academic environment, while handling game and practice operations, in addition to the management of the club’s financial accounts.
The New Kensington, Pa., native earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and rhetoric with a minor in linguistics in 2014.
