Alexis Silkwood is in her second season as a graduate manager with the University of Louisville softball team.

Silkwood joined the Cardinals in 2019 after a successful playing career at Mississippi State, where she was a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-region selection and helped the Bulldogs to three NCAA regional appearances. While in Starkville, she established the school records for career records for wins (59), strikeouts (555), innings pitched (665.0), complete games (50) and appearances (145).Â

She continued her playing career in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league after being drafted by the Akron Racers in the fifth round as the 24th overall pick of the 2017 draft. During her rookie season, she led the Racers with 23 appearances and tossed 52.0 innings, recorded 31 strikeouts and held a 2.96 ERA while helping the team reach the NPF semifinals.

Following her rookie season in the NPF, Silkwood went on to play for the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch in 2018. As part of the organization’s mission take the game to the fans, the team competed in multiple venues across the country including the international cup in Irvine, Calif.
The East Alton, Ill., native earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a minor in history from Mississippi State in 2018. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in sport administration at the University of Louisville.
