2010: Started all 64 games for the Cardinals in the outfield, hitting .291 with 21 RBI. Was second on the team with 15 stolen bases in 22 attempts. Went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored on May 27 against St. John's at BIG EAST Tournament. Finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in BIG EAST title-clinching win at Notre Dame on May 22. Matched a season-high with three runs scored on a hit and two walks in May 18 win over EKU. Finished with a hit and an RBI in each of the Cards' two wins over St. John's. Had a hit, two runs and an RBI in May 5 win at Ohio State. Went 2-for-4 with a run scored in game two of April 30 doubleheader sweep of Rutgers. Had a two-run single in the Cards' win over Kentucky on April 28. Went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Louisville's April 21 win over WKU. Had a great series at WVU, going 5-for-10 with three runs scored and three RBI in three games. Finished with a hit and a run scored in win at Western Kentucky on April 14. Had an RBI single in the April 10 loss at Pitt and was 2-for-4 with a run scored against Panthers on April 9. Finished 2-for-4 at IU on March 30. Was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and made a spectacular diving catch in right center field in March 23 win at Evansville. Had a hit in each of the Cardinals' three games at Ole Miss and scored twice in the series. Was 1-for-3 with a run scored on March 7 against Le Moyne. Had two walks and a stolen base in March 5 and March 6 wins over Le Moyne. Swiped third stolen base of the season and scored a run in Cards' win over Minnesota. Was 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored in victory over Michigan State. Had a hit, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Louisville's 7-2 win over Morehead State. Was outstanding in the Cardinals' 8-7 comeback win over Bowling Green on Feb. 20, going 4-for-5 at the plate with one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base. Finished with a hit in each of U of L's first two games of the season.
2009: Played in 62 of the Cards' 65 games with 43 starts in center field. Was second on the team with 17 stolen bases in 20 attempts. Hit .208 with 13 RBI and 28 walks. Crashed into the wall in right center field while making a huge catch for the first out of the ninth inning of the Cards' 3-2 win over MTSU in the NCAA Regional. Finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Cards' 8-2 win over Indiana to open the NCAA Regional. Went 2-for-4 with a run scored in BIG EAST semifinal win over Notre Dame. Was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in May 9 win at St. John's. Finished 1-for-2 with three walks, one RBI and one run scored in May 6 win over Ohio State. Went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in May 2 win at Villanova. Finished with two hits, one RBI and a run scored in win at UK on April 28. Was 1-for-2 with an RBI single and a run scored on April 26 against Notre Dame. Went 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run in 14-inning win at Rutgers. Had two stolen bases, scored once and had one RBI in win at RU on April 17. Was 2-for-4 with a run scored at Cincinnati on April 5. Had two stolen bases and scored twice in April 3 win at UC. Was 1-for-2 against the Hawkeyes on March 14. Singled, scored and had a stolen base in the win at Tennessee on March 11. Had three hits in the Bowling Green series on Feb. 27-March 1. Was 1-for-1, was hit by two pitches, had two RBI and scored once on March 1 against BGSU. Had two hits and scored twice in Feb. 27 win over Bowling Green. Was 0-for-2 in season-opening loss at Florida after getting the start in center field. Named to AD Honor Roll and a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
2008: Enjoyed an outstanding freshman campaign, batting .282 with nine doubles, 26 runs and 22 RBI and starting 53 games for the Cards in center. Hit .287 in league play. Went 2-for-4 in the BIG EAST Championship game win over UC. Was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI in semifinal win over Villanova. Doubled and drove in two runs in win over Villanova in the BE Championship. Doubled in two-hit effort in win over SHU in BE Championship opener. Moved into the leadoff spot and delivered 2-for-4 effort in win over BSU on May 13 that extended hit streak to career-best nine games. Was 2-for-4 in consecutive wins over GU and IU. Went 4-for-7 with three runs in two wins over UC. Sparked the Cards when he belted an RBI double, scored a run and added a sac bunt in win over UK on April 22. Had first career three-hit game in opening win over Villanova on April 18 and drove in two the following day in the win. Collected a hit, a run, an RBI and two sacs including a squeeze in win at OSU on April 16. Was 2-for-4 with a walk at UK. Walked and drove in a run with two-hit effort in win over SJU on April 6. Logged multi-hit efforts in four of five, going 4-for-6 and driving in two in a pair of midweek wins over Butler and EKU. Picked up his second two-hit game of the weekend, driving in a run against UConn on March 22. Doubled twice, driving in a run and scoring once in win over UConn on March 20. Singled, walked and scored against UT on March 19. Walked and stole a base in win over Kent on March 15. Squeezed home a run in the win over Kent on March 14. Singled and scored in win over EKU on March 5. Drove in a pair of runs in the season-opening doubleheader sweep of CSU on Feb. 23.
High School: While playing at New Albany, Haynes was named First Team All-State and three times All-Conference as an outfielder. Named Defensive Player of the Year in Indiana and was twice team MVP. Established seven single-season and career school records for the Bulldogs. Batted .425 with 11 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 25 steals his senior season. The Bulldogs were Sectional Champions and Regional Runner-up his sophomore season. Led off for the Indiana Bulls. Attended same high school as former Cardinal Daniel Burton. He hit a home run on Senior Day. Earned four letters from the Bulldogs.
Personal: Born on Aug., 3, 1988, in The Ville to Richard and Paula Haynes. Is the youngest of four children. Wears number one because Ozzie Smith is one of his favorite athletes, along with David Eckstein. His greatest influence on him athletically has been his older brother Nick, who taught him how to play baseball at a very young age. Boondock Saints, Good Will Hunting and Wedding Crashers are his favorite movies and he likes to watch Family Guy and SportsCenter on TV. Steak and hamburgers are his favorite foods and he likes to dine at Ruby Tuesday and Outback. Honey Nut Cheerios is his top cereal and Snickers is his favorite candy bar. Likes to listen to Jason Mraz and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Not many people know, but he can do a back flip. He hopes the St. Louis Cardinals, Colts and Pacers win, and he would like to dine with Eckstein, Will Ferrell and Jessica Alba. Faced Jarrod Parker, the best athlete he has ever faced and the 9th overall pick in the MLB draft, when he was on a summer ball travel team. Biggest thrill in sports was winning the 2008 BIG EAST Tournament title.
