No. 4 Cards Return Home to Host Notre Dame

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 4-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team returns home to continue Atlantic Coast Conference play against Notre Dame on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed on ACCNX.

The Cards opened ACC play last weekend with a pair of sweeps against Syracuse and Boston College. The match against Notre Dame will end a streak of seven straight matches away from Louisville and will be the first contest the Cards have played at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena since Sept. 4. The Cardinals aim to extend their winning streak against the Fighting Irish to 10 matches.

TEAM NOTES

UofL has secured five wins over ranked teams in its first 14 matches of the season, tying with Kentucky and Wisconsin for the second-most in the nation this year.
Louisville continues to rank among the best offenses in the NCAA thus far this season. Through their first 14 contests, the Cards rank third nationally in both kills per set (14.60) and hitting percentage (.318). UofL also tops the ACC with 13.26 assists per set, ranking 13^th in the NCAA.
The Cardinals head into the matchup ranked No. 4 in the AVCA/Taraflex Coaches Poll, their fourth consecutive week ranked within the top five nationally. UofL was also picked to finish third in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll over the summer.
To open conference play, Louisville earned a pair of sweeps against Syracuse and Boston College. On Sept. 25, the Cards dominated Syracuse (25-9,25-13, 25-18), then followed by defeating Boston College (25-19, 25-21, 25-14) on Sept. 27.

PLAYER NOTES

Middle blocker Addison Makun was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for her stellar performances against Syracuse and Boston College. The sophomore averaged 2.33 blocks per set across both contests, stuffing seven blocks in each match. She has recorded at least seven blocks in three straight matches, including a career-best showing of eight against Kentucky on Sept. 20.
Opposite Kalyssa Blackshear tallied 16 kills against BC, eclipsing the double-digit kill mark for the ninth time in the last 10 matches. The sophomore also posted a .483 clip, the eighth time she's hit over .400 this year. Blackshear ranks fourth in the ACC in hitting percentage (.373).
Outside hitter Chloe Chicoine added 11 kills with a .435 hitting percentage against BC, marking her 13^th double-digit kill performance and fifth match with at least a .400 clip this year. The senior ranks fifth in the ACC in kills per set (4.11) and ninth in hitting percentage (.350).
Setter Nayelis Cabello continues her stellar junior campaign after racking up back-to-back ACC Setter of the Week honors on Sept. 7 and Sept. 14. Her 10.73 assists per set currently ranks 15^th in the nation and third in the ACC.
