No. 4 Cards Open ACC Play on the Road at Syracuse and Boston College

The Cards head into conference play with a 10-2 record, including five wins over nationally ranked teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 4-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team continues its road trip to open Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend. The Cards will face Syracuse on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. ET in Syracuse, N.Y., before heading to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to take on Boston College on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. ET. Both matches will be broadcast on ACCNX.

The contests against Syracuse and Boston College will mark Louisville's sixth and seventh consecutive matches, respectfully, away from home. Louisville looks to extend winning streaks against both Syracuse and Boston College as they have not lost to either team since the 2019 season.

TEAM NOTES

Louisville has earned five wins over ranked teams in its first 12 matches of the season, tying Pittsburgh for the most ranked wins in the nation this year.
The Cardinals have established themselves as one of the top offenses in the NCAA this season. Through their first 12 matches, UofL ranks fourth nationally in kills per set (14.61) and ninth in hitting percentage (.311).
The Cards enter the weekend at No. 4 in the AVCA/Taraflex Coaches Poll, one spot lower than their Week Three ranking of No. 3. UofL was also picked to finish third in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll over the summer.
To round out nonconference play, UofL came up short in a hard-fought battle against No. 4 Kentucky on Sept. 20, losing in four sets (25-19, 27-29, 21-25, 19-25). Despite the loss, the Cardinals' defense stuffed a season-best 13 total blocks.

PLAYER NOTES

Outside hitter Chloe Chicoine added to her dominant season with her fifth double-double, posting 17 kills on a .356 clip and 10 digs against UK. The senior has recorded double-digit kills in all 12 matches this season while hitting over .300 in 10 of them.
Opposite Kalyssa Blackshear extended her double-digit kill streak to eight matches after posting 10 kills against the Wildcats. The sophomore continues to power Louisville's offense as she's hit over .400 in seven matches this season.
Setter Nayelis Cabello continues her stellar junior campaign after earning back-to-back ACC Setter of the Week honors on Sept. 7 and Sept. 14. She ranks 13^th nationally and third in the ACC with 10.68 assists per set.
Libero Payton Petersen has recorded double-digit digs in each of the last seven matches after securing 18 digs against UK. Since switching to the position at the beginning of the season, the junior has tallied a team-leading 181 digs. Her 4.41 digs per set currently rank third in the ACC and inside the top 50 nationally.
