May 26, 2026 | Track & Field
The regional meet, which will provide the opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, will take place from May 27-30 in Lexington, Ky.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams are set to continue their postseason this week at the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field East First Round, which will be staged over four days from May 27-30 in Lexington, Ky at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Facility.
The Cardinals will be represented by 23 student-athletes across 15 different events at the preliminary meet, which serves as one of two qualifying meets for the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will take place from Jun. 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
The field in Lexington will include athletes with the top 48 marks in each respective event among schools in the East Region, following injury or withdrawal, with the only exceptions being the top 24 times for relays and direct qualification to the national championship meet for the top 24 marks nationally in both the decathlon and heptathlon.
The top 12 event finishers from each region at the preliminary meets will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene.
Men's events will take place on Wednesday and Friday, while women's events are set to be contested on Thursday and Saturday. The full competition schedule for Louisville athletes on each of the four days of action can be found below.
Portions of the meet from each of the four days of competition will be streamed live on ESPN+. The full streaming schedule can be also found below.
The Cardinals enter the competition with a total of 14 marks that currently rank among the top 12 in the region, putting them in position to potentially improve off their total of 13 individual qualifications to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Sophomore KJ Byrd has already punched his second consecutive ticket to Eugene in the men's decathlon, automatically qualifying for the national championship meet with the sixth-best decathlon point total in the nation thus far this season.
Ashley Callahan, Eve Divinity, Geoffrey Kirwa, Roman Kuleshov, and Sharvari Parulekar will also be looking to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second time in their careers, while the remainder of the Louisville competitors will be vying for their first career outdoor championship qualification.
