
Four Cards Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

Despines, Mack, and Pickens highlight the First Team selections with Lookadoo earning Second Team honors.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team had four student-athletes named to National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams, the outlet announced Thursday.
Bri Despines, Chelsea Mack, and Madison Pickens earned First Team All-Region honors while Camryn Lookadoo was named to the Second Team All-Region. This marks the first time since 2013 that the Cardinals have had multiple NFCA First Team All-Region selections and the most overall selections since 2012.
Senior Despines has been one of the most complete hitters in the ACC, batting .410 with 66 hits and 70 RBIs (4th ACC). She ranks third in the ACC with a .551 on-base percentage, while also slugging .770. Despines has recorded 19 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI games, including six games with four or more RBIs. Defensively, she has thrown out 11 runners stealing (T-1st ACC). Despines currently holds a 31-game reached base streak, the longest active stretches on the team. The catcher has reached base in all but one game this season (55 of 56 games).
Senior outfielder Mack continues to set the tone at the top of the lineup, tying for second in the ACC and seventh nationally with 85 hits, while batting .445 (7th ACC). Mack has reached base in 53 games this season and owns a .505 on-base percentage while averaging 1.18 runs per game (7th ACC). She has recorded a hit in 47 of 56 games and leads the team with 27 multi-hit performances, including nine three-hit games and one four-hit game. On the basepaths, Mack is second in the nation with 44 stolen bases and ranks fourth nationally in stolen bases per game (0.79).
Pickens has emerged as one of the top run producers in the ACC, ranking third and fourth in the conference with 73 RBIs and 1.30 RBIs per game, respectively. Her team-high RBI total is first in program history for single-season RBIs, surpassing Maryssa Becker's 60 RBIs in 2016. The sophomore leads the team in batting average (.470) and slugging percentage (.785). Pickens' batting average is second in the conference and 10th in the country. She enters the week on a 17-game hitting streak and has produced a team-high 20 multi-RBI games, along with 26 multi-hit performances and a .528 on-base percentage.
Junior Lookadoo has been one of the most consistent hitters in the lineup, batting .384 with 58 hits and 58 RBIs. She ranks eighth nationally and first in the ACC with 20 doubles, while averaging 0.36 doubles per game (3rd ACC). Lookadoo also owns a .510 on-base percentage and a .656 slugging percentage with five stolen bases. Lookadoo has recorded 14 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games this season, including multiple three- and four-RBI performances.
The Cards will begin their NCAA Tournament run in Lincoln, Neb. tomorrow, May 15 with a 4 p.m. ET matchup against Grand Canyon.
