Cards Winning Streak Ends at Five

Louisville (26-19) saw its five-game winning streak come to an end with the loss.
Indiana (20-25) did the majority of its damage in the opening innings on Tuesday.
The Hoosiers got a run in the first on a two-out double before cashing in two Louisville errors with an unearned run in the second.
Indiana then sent 10 to the plate in the third, scoring five times, to lead 7-0 just three innings into the contest.
The Cardinals stopped the bleeding in the fourth and fifth but gave up a solo homer in the sixth that made it an eight-run game.
Louisville finally got on the scoreboard in its half of the sixth on a solo homer from Jimmy Nugent, his seventh of the year and fourth in the last three games.
Indiana would get the run right back though, scoring in the seventh to push the margin back out to eight.
The Cards scratched a pair of runs back in the seventh on back-to-back sacrifice flies from Zion Rose and Tague Davis. Then, following an IU solo homer, the Cardinals pushed three across in the bottom of the eighth with RBIs from Kade Elam, Ben Slanker and Lucas Moore to get within four.
That would be the closest the Cards would get though. Louisville got two runners on in the ninth but never got the tying run to the plate.
Moore, Rose and Nugent all had two hits in the loss.
Louisville will now head on the road for seven consecutive games beginning with three in Winston-Salem, N.C., against Wake Forest. The series begins on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET with the opening game televised on the ACC Network.
