
Louisville Remains Undefeated in Doubleheaders

Onofrei and Carroll each tallied two sinlges wins on the day
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 44-ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team edged past No. 45-ranked Georgia Tech, 4-3, then swept IU Indy, 6-0, in the nightcap Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
No. 44 Louisville 4, No. 45 Georgia Tech 3
The doubles action began with Matei Onofrei and Andre' Steinbach falling on Court 1, 6-4. No. 90-ranked Walid Ahouda and Hamza El Amine earned a hard-fought 7-5 win on Court 2, but it wasn't enough as Pedro Cressoni and Russell Lokko lost Court 3, 7-5, giving Georgia Tech the doubles point.
Georgia Tech started singles play with a victory on Court 1, but the Cards answered with freshman Jerald Carroll claiming Court 6 in straight sets to put Louisville on the board. The Yellow Jackets extended their lead by taking Court 2, but El Amine responded with a 7-6, 6-2 win on Court 3.
Cressoni tied it up for UofL at 3-3, bringing the Cards within a point of victory by securing Court 5 in straight sets. Onofrei completed the Cardinal comeback with a thrilling three-set win on Court 4 to push Louisville past Georgia Tech, 4-3.

In their first time playing as a duo, Louis Chusseau and Lokko claimed a dominant 6-1 win on Court 3. Steinbach and Onofrei sealed the doubles point for the Cards after rallying from two games down to take a 6-4 win on the top court.
The Cards carried the momentum into singles competition with Ahouda finishing first with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Onofrei followed up shortly after with a fierce victory in straight sets where his opponent only won one game in the match.
Chusseau clinched the match for Louisville on Court 5 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over IU Indy's Brandon Pham. With the win secured, both Steinbach and Carroll claimed victories in straight sets to add to the Cards' point total.
Louisville hits the road to take on NC State in Raleigh, N.C. on Friday, March 13 at 5 p.m. ET and Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Sunday, March 15 at 1 p.m. ET.
