Matei Onofrei earned his second ranked win of the season in the loss
RALEIGH, N.C. - Â The No. 42-ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team came up short against No. 20 NC State by a score of 4-1 on Friday night at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
NC State claimed the early edge in the competition with the doubles point. The No. 85- ranked Wolfpack tandem of Martin Borisiouk and Jules Leroux took the first win on the top court, 6-3. Both courts two and three remained close throughout each match, but NC State came out on top, 6-4, on Court 2 to clinch.Â
Matei Onofrei earned the lone win of the match for the Cards when he defeated No. 110 Leroux 7-5, 6-3 on Court 3. The victory marked his 12th dual match win of the season, which is a team best.Â
The Wolfpack claimed courts six, one and two to clinch their victory. Hamza El Amine and Pedro Cressoni each forced a third set after dropping their first sets, but the matches will go down as unfinished.
