Alicea Named to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville junior shortstop Alex Alicea was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List released on Wednesday by the College Baseball Foundation.
This marks the second year for Alicea on the watch list for the award given out annually to the top shortstop in the country. Alicea was a semifinalist for the award last season.
The Milwaukee, Wis., native is hitting .298 through the season's first 12 games, tallying five extra-base hits and scoring 11 runs.
Alicea has also been spotless defensively, successfully handling all 31 chances he's had so far in 2026.
Alicea and the Cardinals host Seton Hall for a three-game series this weekend at Jim Patterson Stadium.
