Cards Continue Road Swing at Ohio State Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Louisville softball team (21-7, 3-3 ACC) continues its road swing with a trip to the Ohio State Tournament, featuring Campbell, Indiana State, and host Ohio State.
The Cardinals will play Campbell on Friday, March 20 (12 p.m. ET), Indiana State on Saturday, March 21 (12 p.m. ET), Ohio State on Saturday, March 21 (2:30 p.m. ET), and Campbell on Sunday, March 22 (10 a.m. ET). Saturday's game against Ohio State will be broadcast on B1G+.
The Cardinals are coming off a 13-4 midweek win over Western Kentucky on Wednesday, highlighted by a five-RBI performance from Bri Despines which included two home runs. Chelsea Mack also had a career day, going a career-high 4-for-5 with an inside-the-park grand slam.

- Freshman Katelyn Hubley and junior Kasey lead the way in the circle. Hubley is 8-1 on the year, with six complete games, boasting a 3.39 ERA over 66 innings. Hubley also has 57 strikeouts and holds batters to a .302 average this season. Kasey has a 4-5 record and three complete games, boasting a 3.39 ERA as well over 51.2 innings of work. Kasey holds opponents to a .260 average and has 23 strikeouts on the year.
- Seniors Charlie Montgomery and Allyiah Swiney lead the Camels on the offensive front. Montgomery owns a team-high batting average of .466 with three extra base hits, five stolen bases and 17 RBIs. Swiney is batting at a .410 clip with 13 extra base hits, five of which are homers, 24 RBIs and two stolen bases.
- Emily Carosone is in her second year with Campbell, after 4 years as the associate head coach at Auburn. In her first season at the helm, she led the Camels to a 37-20 record with a 19-8 conference record. The team lost in the CAA Championship to Elon after upsetting the top ranked Delaware Blue Hens.

- Scouting the Sycamores: Indiana State is 15-12 so far this season with a 4-4 record in Missouri Valley Conference play this season. The Sycamores most recently dropped both games of a double-header against Evansville on Wednesday, March 18.
- From the circle, freshman Caylee Gaytan and redshirt senior Lauren Sackett lead the way. Gaytan is 5-3 on the year, with six complete games, boasting a 1.83 ERA over 69 innings. She also has 62 strikeouts and holds batters to a .237 average this season for ISU. Kasey has a 9-6 record and seven complete games, boasting a 2.50 ERA through 78.1 innings of play. She has two shutouts, holds opponents to a .246 average and has 70 strikeouts on the year.
- Sophomore Madison Poulson and senior Madison Goodrich lead Indiana State on the offensive front. Poulson has a team-high batting average with a .411 clip on the year with seven extra base hits, 12 RBIs, 11 walks and seven steals. Goodrich is hitting .371 with three triples, six RBIs, 23 free trips to first and a perfect 19-for-19 stolen bases.
- Windy Thees is in her second year with the squad, coming to the Sycamores with over 25 years of collegiate coaching experience. In her first season at the helm, she led ISU to a 19-33 record with a 13-12 conference record. The team had three players named to the MVC All-Conference squads.

- Scouting the Buckeyes: Ohio State is 8-16 so far this season with a 2-4 record in Big 10 play. The Buckeyes come into the weekend on a four-game losing streak, following a midweek loss to Western Michigan before dropping three games at Purdue. OSU is 2-2 at home, winless on the road, and 6-4 at neutral site games.
- From the circle, freshman Jenna Molk leads the way. Molk is 5-9 on the year, with five complete games, boasting a 4.22 ERA over 66.1 innings. She also has 50 strikeouts and has held batters to a .333 average this season.
- Sophomore Abbie Wilhelm and junior Halley Lang lead the Buckeyes on the offensive front. Wilhelm leads the team in batting average with a .384 on the year with 18 extra base hits, 10 of them being home runs, 23 RBIs and 15 walks. While Lang is batting .333 with 11 extra base hits, six of which are homers, 13 RBIs, and 12 walks.
- Kirin Kumar is in her second year with the squad, after spending four years as the head coach at Miami University of Ohio. In her first season at the helm, she led the Buckeyes to a 45-14-1 record with a 16-6 bid in the Big 10. The Buckeyes season ended with a loss against Tennessee in the Knoxville Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
