Louisville Goes 2-0 on Day 2 of Felsberg Invitational
February 07, 2026 | Softball
The Cards defeated Texas A&M Corpus Christi 13-5 and shut out Lehigh 4-0.
Against the Islanders, the Cards struck in the bottom of the first when Madison Pickens drove in Easton Lotus with a double and then advanced the third on the throw. A sacrifice fly from Riley Janda drove in Pickens, and UofL headed to the second inning with a two-run lead.Â
Â
The next two innings were quiet until Pickens, Taylor Monroe and Ava Venturelli all found themselves crossing home after a base-clearing triple from Jordan Williams in the bottom of the fourth. An error from the Islanders allowed Williams to score as Louisville extended its lead to 6-0. Janda doubled in the next inning to score Despines and the Cards took their largest lead of the day at 7-0.
Â
A&M-Corpus Christi tacked on five runs in the top of the sixth, but UofL had a quick answer. Venturelli doubled to lead off the inning and was pinch run for by Mikayla Milby. Williams homered for her fourth and fifth RBIs of the day, a new career high. Louisville loaded the bases again, and Janda cleared them with a double that scored Chelsea Mack, Pickens and Despines and ended the game with a 13-5 run-rule victory.Â
Â
Janda tallied a career-high five RBIs as well, marking the first time since 2017 and the second time in program history that the Cards have had two players with five RBIs in a single game.
Â
Alyssa Zabala grabbed her first win of the season, striking out three and allowing just three hits in a scoreless four innings. Madi Reeves pitched in relief, tallying four strikeouts and two earned runs.
Â
In the second game of the day against Lehigh, the Cards got the scoring started in the bottom of the first when Mack singled up the middle and later came around to score on an RBI single from Pickens, giving Louisville an early 1–0 lead.
Â
After a scoreless second inning, Louisville added to its advantage in the third. Lookadoo reached base before Mack singled again and stole second. Pickens followed with a sacrifice fly to center to bring home a run, and Despines doubled to center field to score Mack and extend the lead to 3–0.
Â
The Cardinals continued to apply pressure in the fifth inning. Mack reached on a bunt single and swiped both second and third before scoring on a throwing error by the catcher, pushing the Louisville lead to 4–0.
Â
In the circle, Brooke Gray set the tone early, allowing just two hits over four scoreless innings. Jayden Gohs closed the game with three shutout frames in relief to secure the save, the first of her career, as the Cardinals completed the 4-0 victory.
Â
Mack finished a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a career-high four stolen bases, while Despines went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Pickens drove in two runs against the Mountain Hawks.
Â
Louisville closes out the Felsberg Invitational tomorrow morning, facing FIU once more at 11:30 a.m. ET on ESPN+.
