
Moore, Rose on Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Adding to a long list of preseason accolades, University of Louisville junior outfielders Lucas Moore and Zion Rose were named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List by USA Baseball.
The Louisville duo is part of the 55-man watch list for the award handed out to the best amateur baseball player in the country.
Former Cardinal Brendan McKay won the Golden Spikes Award in 2017, and Corey Ray was a finalist in 2016.
Moore and Rose have garnered preseason All-America honors from four different organizations heading into the 2026 season.
Moore has a standout sophomore campaign that saw him earn All-America honors. In 66 games, he hit 341 with 10 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 49 RBIs. Moore also led the team with 92 hits, 85 runs scored and went 53-for-54 in stolen bases.
Rose was one of two Cardinals to start every game during the 2025 campaign, finishing with a .310 average, 16 doubles, three triples and 13 home runs. The Chicago native led the Cards with 67 RBIs and scored 64 runs and was 31-for-34 in stolen bases.
Louisville opens the 2026 season on Feb. 13 with the first of a three-game series against Michigan State at Jim Patterson Stadium.
