Nugent Named to Posey Award Midseason Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville junior Jimmy Nugent was named to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Midseason Watch List released on Wednesday by the Wichita Sports Commission.
Nugent was one of 50 catchers on the list for the award honoring the top catcher in the country annually.
The junior backstop has started 23 of 29 games this season for the Cards, with 20 starts behind the plate.
Nugent has a .342 average with seven doubles, a pair of homers and 15 RBIs. He has also thrown out 39 percent (7-of-18) runners, the second-highest percentage in the ACC.
Nugent and the Cardinals are on the road this weekend for a three-game set at Duke beginning on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
