Cards Fall in Midweek to Indiana

Louisville is now 20-17 on the year
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Louisville softball team fell to Indiana on Wednesday night by an 8-3 margin. The Cardinals are now 20-17 on the year with a conference series at Boston College on deck.
The Cards started off with a pair of walks and a single to load the bases early in the first inning. Ally Alexander reached on a fielder's choice to score two runners in Char Lorenz and Chelsea Mack, giving the Cards a 2-0 lead.
Alyssa Zabala put up two consecutive zeroes to keep the score the same going into the third inning. Indiana's Brianna Copeland led off the third with a home run and Kinsey Mitchell hit an RBI single that tied things up at 2-2.
Freshman Madison Pickens hit a lead-off home run to left field to start the fourth inning, but the Cards couldn't tack on anymore.
A pair of singles and a sacrifice fly put four runs on the board for the Hoosiers going into the fifth inning. Indiana's Alex Cooper hit a two-RBI home run to cap off the scoring on the evening.
Zabala took the loss, moving to 8-6 on the season. Copeland earned the win and moves to 11-4 on the year.
Louisville looks to bounce back as they travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. for a weekend series against the Boston College Eagles. The Cards will play Friday, Saturday, Sunday this weekend with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m., 1 p.m., and 11 a.m., respectively. All games will be broadcast on ACCNX.
