Women’s Track & Field Places Third at ACC Indoor Championships
March 03, 2025 | Track & Field
Jayden Ulrich won her second consecutive conference title in the women’s shot put to help the women’s squad match their best finish at the meet in program history.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams closed out the third and final day of competition at the ACC Indoor Championships on Sunday, as the women's squad placed third in the team standings with a total of 62 points.
The third-place finish matches the best finish in program history at the meet for the Louisville women, having tied for third place as a unit at the 2018 ACC Indoor Championships.
Over the course of the three-day meet, the Cards saw 15 athletes earn All-ACC honors while setting four new program records with a total of 20 personal-best performances. Along with the third-place finish from the women, the Louisville men finished 11th with 35 points.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was Jayden Ulrich, who defended her ACC title in the women's shot put with a mark of 17.88m (58-8) that outpaced the rest of the field by over a meter. With the victory, the senior became the first Louisville athlete to win back-to-back indoor ACC titles in the same event since Emmonnie Henderson won three straight women's shot put crowns from 2016 to 2018.
In the final indoor competition career, Rachel Darden posted a massive personal-best mark of 12.77m (41-10.75) in the women's triple jump to claim the bronze medal and move to third in program history.
Roman Kuleshov also earned a third-place finish in the men's triple jump after leaping to a season-best mark of 15.48m (50-9.5) on his way to earning First Team All-ACC distinction for the first time in his career.
On the track, Kiyah Yeast dominated with a pair of fourth-place finishes in both the women's 60m and women's 200m, setting a new program record in the 200m in the process. The graduate student cruised to a time of 23.30 to better the previous program record of 23.38 that was set by Tiriah Kelley at the 2023 ACC Indoor Championships, while also clocking a time of 7.34 in the 60m earlier in the day.
Ryan Farrell reset his own school record in the men's 800m by over a second, placing fourth in the event with a time of 1:47.55 to become the first Louisville male to score in the event at the ACC Indoor Championships and close a stellar indoor season that saw him record the three fastest 800m times in program history.
Jaidyn Johnson concluded his strong freshman indoor campaign in the men's 60m finals, finishing fifth overall with a personal-best time of 6.70 to earn Second Team All-ACC honors.
After placing eighth in the men's weight throw on Saturday, Noah Koch earned sixth place in the men's shot put with a season-best toss of 17.70m (58-1) to score at the conference championship meet in both events for the second consecutive season.
Layla Roebke rounded out the scorers for the Cardinals in the women's 3000m, shaving over 10 seconds off the school record she set two weeks ago to win her heat and finish eighth overall in 9:05.80. Having finished as the silver medalist in the women's 5000m, on Saturday, Roebke became the first Cardinal to score in both events at the same conference championship meet since 2019.
The Cardinals will now await the selection of athletes for the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships, which are set to take place in Virginia Beach, Va. from March 14-15. Athletes who finish with a top-16 mark nationally in their respective events will be invited to the championship meet after the conclusion of all conference championship meets.
