LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three University of Louisville track & field student-athletes will represent the program at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships set to take place this weekend from Mar. 14-15 in Virginia Beach, Va. at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
KJ Byrd, Natalie Lark and Jayden Ulrich punched their tickets to the national championship meet by earning qualifying marks within the top 16 nationally in their respective events throughout the season.
Live results for the meet can be found here, while a full schedule of events for the trio of Louisville representatives can be found below. The duration of the two days of competition will be streamed on ESPN+.
The top eight finishers in each event will be recognized as First Team All-Americans, while those that finish ninth through 16th place will be named Second Team All-Americans.
Byrd became the second Louisville freshman in three years to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, punching his ticket to the national championship meet in the men's heptathlon after becoming the first rookie in ACC history to win the conference title in the event. The native of Connelly Springs, N.C. enters the weekend ranked fourth in the field with his program-record total of 5,903 points that came two weeks ago at the ACC Indoor Championships.
Lark also qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships for the first time in her career, earning a spot in the women's pole vault with her mark of 4.47m (14-8) from the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, the 10th-best seed mark in the field and a Louisville program record. The senior also captured her second straight silver medal at the ACC Indoor Championships, finishing as the runner-up with a mark of 4.42m (14-6).
Ulrich clinched a spot in the women's shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the third consecutive season, looking to earn First Team All-American honors once again after placing sixth at the meet last season. After a season that saw her defend her ACC title in the event, Ulrich enters the national championship meet with the fifth-best mark in the field thus far this season, boasting a school-record toss of 18.40m (60-4.5) at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational.
