Louisville moves to 19-12 (3-6 ACC) on the year
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Louisville softball team fell to North Carolina on Sunday afternoon, 14-3. The Cardinals drop the series 2-1 and move to 19-12 (3-6 ACC) on the season.
The Tarheels got off to a hot start in the rubber match, tallying four home runs and a trio of singles in the first three innings of action. UNC was up 11-0 going into the fourth inning.
Louisville started the fourth getting Bri Despines on base via hit by pitch. Ally Alexander advanced Despines to second on a bunt single, putting two on base for the Cards. Jac Hasty entered the game to pinch hit and had an immediate impact, homering to center field and scoring Alexander and Despines. The Cards cut the score to 11-3.
UNC responded with a trio of singles that scored three more runs to round out the game.
Louisville's Alyssa Zabala got handed the loss in the circle, moving her record to 8-4 on the season. Britton Rogers of UNC got the win, moving her to 4-0.
Redshirt freshman Char Lorenz led the series in RBIs, tallying six on the weekend. Chelsea Mack led the team in hits this weekend with four and Despines had a team-high five runs.
The Cards will return to action as they close out their road swing at Western Kentucky on Tuesday, March 25. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
