Cards Return Home for Six Matches

Louisville is set to host No. 5 NC State, No. 1 Wake Forest and Bellarmine
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team returns home to host another three-match weekend. Friday will feature a match against No. 5 NC State with first serve set for 4 p.m. Then the Cards will host a Sunday doubleheader, facing top-ranked Wake Forest at noon and crosstown rival Bellarmine at 5 p.m.
Louisville (6-12, 0-6 ACC) traveled to the west coast over the weekend to face ACC newcomers, No. 14 California and No. 8 Stanford. The Cards were able to battle with the highly ranked teams, but dropped both matches in the end.Â
Junior Will Mayew is having a successful year, posting a 9-3 record in singles matches. His most recent win was a two-set victory over Hudson Rivera of No. 8 Stanford.Â
The Cards have found a strong pairing in Andre' Steinbach and Kosuke Nakanishi. The tandem is 1-1 against ranked opponents with their lone loss coming against the at-the-time No. 37-ranked duo of Samir Banerjee and Alexander Razeghi of the Cardinal. The match between the two pairings was the last to finish on Saturday and was determined by a tiebreaker where the Stanford tandem took a highly competitive 7-6 (9-7) win.Â
