Cards Finish Seventh at The Hayt

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cooper Claycomb of the University of Louisville men's golf team fired a final round score of 71 to lift the Cardinals into a seventh-place finish at The Hayt in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on Monday.
The Cardinals finished at 7-over par after carding rounds of 295-284-282=871. Texas won the tournament, while Duke finished in second place and Alabama closed in third place. North Carolina and Virginia rounded out the top five.
Claycomb closed the tournament at 2-over-par shooting 74-73-71=218 to finish in a tie for 23rd place. On the final day, Claycomb went on to birdie three holes and had posted an eagle on the par 5 No. 11.
Brady Smith was the highest finisher for the Cardinals by posting his first top 20 finish after finishing in a tie for 18th place. After opening with a 4-over-par 76, Smith played the last two rounds at 3-under-par, including a 68 on Sunday.
Patrick Keeling, who was playing in only his fifth tournament event, posted his best finish in 23rd place. The junior finished at 2-over-par by carding rounds of 72-73-73=218.
Mads Roddik placed in a tie for 49th place after shooting a 6-over par 225, Easton Johnson closed his final round with a 7-over-par 79 to finish in a tie for 58th.
Playing as an individual, Warren Thomis finished in a tie for 68th place at 13-over-par.
The Cardinals return to action at The Hackler in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on March 16-18.
