KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Louisville men's golf team sits in 15th place following the opening two rounds of the Visit Knoxville Collegiate on Monday at Fox Den Country Club.
The Cardinals carded a 289 in the opening round before improving by eight strokes with a 281 in the second round. Louisville's 570 total puts the Cardinals at 10-over par heading into Tuesday's final round on the par-70, 6,962-yard course.
Warren Thomis led the Cardinals through 36 holes, finishing the day tied for 10th at 3-under par with a 137. Thomis opened with a 69 before following with a 68 in the second round, moving three spots up the individual leaderboard.
Sean Keeling finished the day tied for 55th at 4-over par with a 144. After a 74 in the opening round, Keeling bounced back with an even-par 70 in the second round.
Barron Mundy posted Louisville's biggest improvement from the first to second round. Mundy carded a 76 in the opening round before firing a 1-under-par 69 in round two to finish the day tied for 63rd at 5-over par with a 145.
Tyler Bruneau and Brady Smith are tied for 80th at 8-over par with identical totals of 148. Bruneau opened with a 72 before shooting 76 in the second round, while Smith recorded consecutive rounds of 74.
Louisville enters the final round eight strokes behind 14th-place Virginia Tech and one stroke behind 16th-place Indiana. Memphis and Chattanooga are tied for the team lead at 8-under par with totals of 552, while Georgia is third at 553.
The Cardinals will close the tournament Tuesday at Fox Den Country Club with tee times beginning at 9:49 a.m. ET.
