Johnson, Cards Lead After One Round of the Calusa Cup

NAPLES, Florida – Easton Johnson shot a 3-under-par to lead the University of Louisville men's golf team to the top spot after 18 holes at the fifth annual Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines Golf Club on Sunday. The Cardinals shot a 4-under-par 284 collectively to hold a six-shot lead over Florida heading into Monday's second round.
The Cardinals will begin play on Monday at 1:20 p.m., pairing with UCLA and Florida.
Louisville enters second round action with three players in top two spots. Johnson holds one-shot lead over teammates Sebastian Moss and Cooper Claycomg, who shot 70, while Baylor Larrabee of UCLA and Zack Swanick of Florida are also tied for second.
Johnson leads for the first time in his UofL career after he registered four birdies for his round.
Moss and Claycomb are tied for second after they combined for 10 birdies over their first round of action.
Patrick Keeling fired 75 to tie for 21st and Brady Smith is tied for 40th after carding 79.
Louisville notched 21 birdies as a unit on Sunday.
