Cards Win 11 Events at Eastern Indoors

Olivia Jenkins, Jaidyn Johnson, Clarence McLean, and Elijah Porter all moved into the top-10 in program history in their respective events.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams competed at the Eastern Indoors meet on Friday, combining for a total of 11 individual event victories and 14 personal-best performances.
The Cardinals dominated the 60m straightaway, with Louisville athletes accounting for the top two spots in both the men's and women's races while each recorded a personal-best time. Jaidyn Johnson earned his first collegiate win in the men's 60m with a time of 6.71 that moves him to third in program history, while Clarence McLean finished as the runner-up with a time of 6.83 that ties him for ninth in the program record books. In the women's 60m, Olivia Jenkins won in 7.49, the ninth-fastest in program history, while freshman Maya Taylor knocked nearly a full tenth of a second off of her previous personal-best with a time of 7.70.
Elijah Porter also leapt onto the top-10 list in the men's 400m with a massive personal-best, clocking a time of 48.34 to win the event while moving up to seventh in program history. On the women's side, Jalasia Lewis recorded a personal-best time of 57.62 to take the top spot, while Ruby Nwosu placed third in 57.73.
The Cards secured a podium sweep in the women's long jump, as Lucy Fellows secured the win with a leap of 5.76m (18-10.75). Maya Follmer claimed the runner-up spot with a personal-best mark of 5.70m (18-8.5) and Anna Panenko recorded a jump of 5.64m (18-6) to place third. Miller Jones won the men's long jump for his first event victory in a Louisville uniform with a mark of 7.00m (22-11.75), and Jamaur Williamson finished second after leaping 6.66m (21-10.25).
Louisville also pulled off the sweep in the women's 200m as Maya Taylor tied her personal record with a time of 25.10 to get the win. Lucy Fellows clocked a 25.22 to finish second and Jalasia Lewis placed third in 25.40, with both times standing as new personal-bests.
Audrey Shelton broke the tape in the women's 3000m with a personal-best time of 10:26.86, with Megan John finishing as the runner-up in 10:30.49, a season-best time.
In the men's pole vault, Cade DeWitt tied his season-best with a clearance of 5.04m (16-6.5) to take the top spot in the event.
After clocking a time of 9.65 in the preliminary round of the women's 60m hurdles, Keira Antoni blazed to a personal-best time of 8.98 to win the event.
Noah Koch secured the final event victory of the day for the Cardinals, as the senior recorded a toss of 16.68m (54-8.75) to win the men's shot put.
The Cards rounded out the day with a trio of runner-up finishes as Terence Jackson set a new personal-best in the men's 200m with a time of 22.56, Josh Moore cleared a final bar of 1.98m (6-6), and Lucy Fellows recorded a toss of 11.10m (36-5) in the women's shot put.
The Cardinals will close out their regular season next weekend when they split between four meets on the road on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15.
