Cards Defeat Bellarmine, 10-0 in Five Innings
February 26, 2025 | Softball
Louisville moves to 11-5 on the season with its third run-rule of 2025
Louisville's bats came out swinging once again, putting up a pair of runs in the first inning on two hits and a plethora of stolen bases.Â
Brooke Gray was strong in the circle, holding the Knights scoreless in her three innings of work. The Cards made her job easy, providing her with eight runs of support in her three frames thanks to RBI doubles from Bri Despines and Madison Pickens in the second and run-scoring hits from Ally Alexander and Easton Lotus in the third.Â
Izzy Harrison entered to pitch for Louisville in the fourth, recording three strikeouts in the inning to keep Bellarmine at bay.Â
The Cards struck for two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on RBIs by Taylor Monroe and pinch-hitter Jac Hasty, bringing their lead to 10-0. Harrison stayed in for Louisville in the top of the fifth, retiring the side in order and striking out the final batter of the game to secure the Cards' victory.
Louisville will remain at home to host Central Michigan, Longwood and Northwestern in this weekend's Cardinal Classic. The tournament will kick off with a matchup between the Cards and Central Michigan on Friday, February 28. First pitch is set for 12:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
