Cardinals Tied for Seventh After First Round of Moon Golf

Freshman Bailey Burkett leads the team at even par
MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Louisville women's golf team is tied for seventh overall after the first round of the Moon Golf Invitational Sunday afternoon. In a field of 17 teams and 11 of them are ranked in the Top 25, the Cards are in the top half of the leaderboard after the first day of action after shooting an 8-over-par 288 for the day.
The Cards were led on the day by Bailey Burkett, who carded an even-par 72. Burkett had a strong back nine where she tallied three birdies over the final nine holes. She is tied for 11th overall.
Carmen Griffiths is inside the top 20 after the first day when she tallied a 1-over-par 73. Griffiths had two birdies in the front nine and is tied for 20th overall.
Veronika Exposito is competing as an individual and is tied for 29th overall. She carded a two-over-par 74 with two birdies on the back nine.
Thienna Huynh and Gabbi Bentancourt are both tied for 40th overall at 3-over-par 75. Bentancourt is competing as an individual and had a birdie on the back nine while Huynh had one birdie on the front nine.
Beatriz Barrios and Millie Cottrell round out the team for the Cards. Barrios is tied for 47th overall at 4-over-par 76. Cottrell is one shot behind her at 5-over-par 77 and she is tied for 62nd overall.
The second round of the tournament will start at 8 a.m. ET on Monday with tee times from hole one and hole 10. Fans can follow along with the live stats here or on our social media channels.
