The senior raced to a time of 9:15.15 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational to climb to the top of the program record books.
The University of Louisville track & field teams closed out their regular season of competition on Saturday, breaking their third program record of the weekend with the squads divided between the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Don Kirby Elite, Music City Challenge, and Windy City Invitational.
After seeing the men's 800m and men's pole vault records fall on Friday afternoon, Layla Roebke set a new school record in the women's 3000m, as the senior raced to a time of 9:15.15 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational to climb to the top of the program record books. The time shaved nearly four seconds off the previous Louisville best that was set by Dorcas Wasike during the 2018 season.
Along with the three program records and one freshman record set over the course of the two days of competition, the Cardinals closed their split weekend with a total of 15 performances that rank among the top 10 in program history and accruing 21 marks that set new personal bests.
More detailed highlights from each meet can be found below.
