Cards Win 2-1 Against Minnesota at Joan Joyce Classic

Louisville moves to 6-2 on the season
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Louisville softball team defeated Minnesota, 2-1, in its third game of the Joan Joyce Classic on Saturday morning. The Cardinals move to 6-2 on the season and the Golden Gophers fall to 1-6.
The Cards got off to a slow start, unable to record a hit until the fourth inning. Minnesota scored early after Chard doubled and batted in a run in the bottom of the second inning.
Louisville got on the board in the sixth inning, with an RBI by Taylor Monroe allowing Char Lorenz to reach home plate. The score was even at one apiece to start the seventh inning.
In the final inning, Easton Lotus singled and was able to score on an error that sealed the win for the Cards.
Alyssa Zabala got the win in the circle, allowing five hits in 18 at-bats. She moves to 4-0 on the season.
Louisville will return to the Joan Joyce Classic for the final day tomorrow, facing both Purdue (1:15 p.m.) and No. 25 FAU (4 p.m.). Both games can be streamed on FloSports.
