Cards Head to No. 2 Miami for Friday Night Matchup

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville football team will head to Miami to face No. 2-ranked Miami in a Friday night matchup at Hard Rock Stadium at 7 p.m. ET.

Series History
The Cards and the Hurricanes are facing off for the third time in three seasons and 18th time overall. Miami leads the series 12-4-1, but the teams have traded wins in the last two seasons, with the Canes grabbing a 52-45 victory in Louisville on Oct. 19, 2024. In 2023, UofL bested Miami 38-31 on its home turf to clinch a spot in the ACC Championship.

Both Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough and Miami quarterback Cam Ward threw for over 300 yards and logged four touchdowns in the 2024 game. Running back Isaac Brown rushed for 60 yards on nine carries and a touchdown, while adding 23 receiving yards on six catches. Wide receivers Chris Bell and Caullin Lacy combined for over 120 yards on nine receptions, with Ja'Corey Brooks recording two receiving touchdowns and 107 total yards. Lacy also tallied a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Notes on Louisville
UofL (4-1, 1-1 ACC) is coming off of its second bye week following an overtime loss to then-No. 24 Virginia. Quarterback Miller Moss threw for 329 yards against the Cavaliers, his third straight 300-yard game of the season. Moss rushed for one touchdown and tossed two through the air.

Bell posted his second straight game with a new career high in receiving yards, grabbing two touchdowns and 170 yards on 12 catches. For his performance, Bell was selected as ACC Receiver of the Week for the second consecutive week.

On defense, Louisville totaled 67 tackles, with defensive back D'Angelo Hutchinson adding 11 of his own. Defensive back JoJo Evans Jr. and linebacker TJ Quinn both added nine tackles of their own. Kicker Cooper Ranvier recorded a 50-yard field goal for the longest kick in his young career.

UM (5-0, 1-0 ACC) is also coming off its second bye week of the season. Prior to the bye week, Miami started off its ACC play with a 28-22 win over in-state rival, former No. 18 Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. Quarterback Carson Beck went 20-of-27 for 241 yards and four touchdown passes.

Wide receivers CJ Daniels and Malachi Toney combined for over 180 yards on 12 total receptions. Daniels and Toney each caught two touchdown passes from Beck in the win. Beck has 1,213 passing yards on the season to go with 11 passing touchdowns. Running back Mark Fletcher Jr. has led the run game for the Canes this season, leading the team with five touchdowns and 428 rushing yards on 78 carries.

The Hurricane defense held the Seminoles to just three points through the first three quarters. Defensive back Keionte Scott logged 11 tackles, as defensive back Zechariah Poyser and linebacker Wesley Bissainthe added eight each.

UM has three ranked wins in 2025, starting the season with a 27-24 win over then-No. 6 Notre Dame before taking down No. 18 South Florida and Florida State.
