Cardinals Finish Fourth at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

The Cards had four players finish in the Top-20
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's golf team tallied a fourth place finish after the final round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Champions Trace Golf Course. The Cardinals had their best team round of the tournament with a 6-over-par 294 in the final round on Tuesday and finished 27-over-par 891 for the tournament.
Thienna Huynh led the way for the Cardinals over the entire tournament and finished a team-best tied for 10th overall. She finished 4-over-par 220 through 54 holes after a final round 76 on Tuesday.
One stroke behind Huynh was Carmen Griffiths, who had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday. She tallied a 1-under-par 71 in the final round to finish 5-over-par 221 and tied for 14th overall. The 71 was tied for the lowest round by a Cardinal in the tournament after Huynh carded a 71 in the opening round on Sunday.
Two players were next on the leaderboard for the Cardinals as Millie Cottrell and Bailey Burkett both finished tied for 18th overall at 8-over-par 224 for the tournament. Cottrell and Burkett both carded a 1-over-par 73 in the final round on Tuesday.
Veronika Exposito also put together her best round of the tournament with a 2-over-par 74 on Tuesday. She finished tied for 27th overall with a 10-over-par 226 for the tournament.
Beatriz Barrios and Gabbi Bentancourt rounded out the action for the Cardinals as the pair both scored a 7-over-par 79 in the final round. Barrios finished tied for 42nd overall with a 16-over-par 232 and Bentancourt was tied for 59th overall with a 25-over-par 241.
The Cardinals will be back in action this weekend as they host the Cardinal Cup starting on Friday. It will be held at the University of Louisville Golf Course in Simpsonville and will run from Sept. 13-15. It will be the first time the Cardinals have hosted the Cardinal Cup since the fall of the 2019-20 season.
