
Phekran Kong Named to US Collegiate National Team

2024 Women's Collegiate Team to Train Alongside Olympians
LOUISVILLE, Ky. --Â Â University of Louisville middle blocker Phekran Kong has been named as one of 19Â of the country's top women's collegiate athletes who have been selected for the 2024 Women's Collegiate National Team.
Kong had a breakout season in 2023 as a starter at middle blocker for the Cardinals.She was named to the AVCA All-East Region team and was named to the All-Pitt Region. She appeared in 111 sets with 203 kills, hitting 319 and had 19 digs and led the team in blocking with 117, averaging 1.05 per set. She had 12 matches where she hit better than .400 and hit .600 at Pitt in the regional final with 13 kills one error on 20 swings. She had a block in every match she played in with a season-high 9 versus Wright state in the NCAA first round and eight at Pitt in the NCAA Regional final when she had eight block assists. She had a season-best 13 kills at Georgia Tech (13-3-26 to hit .385). She was invited to the USA Volleyball Women's National Team Open Program that trained in Colorado Springs in February.
The Women's Collegiate National Team will train June 30-July 6 in Anaheim, Calif., alongside the U.S. Olympic Women's Volleyball Team.
Setters on the team are Kate Lang, Mia Tuaniga and Molly Wilson. Liberos are Lauren Briseño, Kate Georgiades and Allison Jacobs. The outside hitters are Aliyah Carter, Claire Little, Ava Martin, Emmi Sellman and Mckenna Wucherer. The opposites are Jordan Iliff, Logan Lednicky and Megan Wilson. The middle blockers are Desiree Becker, Lydia Martyn, Ifenna Cos-Okpalla, Anna Dodson and Phekran Kong. Chris McGown of Gold Medal Squared will serve as the team's head coach.
