Seminoles even the series at a game apiece
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team fell 8-4 to No. 18 Florida State Saturday afternoon at Ulmer Stadium. With the Atlantic Coast Conference series even at a game apiece, the teams will meet in the rubber game Sunday at 12 p.m.

In a game that featured three lead changes and a tie, Louisville (25-15, 4-7 ACC) jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning when Daisy Hess led off with a single, took second on a passed ball and moved to third on Riley Frizell's base hit. Vanessa Miller earned a walk to load the bases for Bailee Richardson's two-run single which plated Hess and pinch runner Mia Forsythe.

The Seminoles (27-10, 8-3) countered with a run in the fourth behind Michaela Edenfield's solo home run to cut the lead in half.

The Cardinals got the run back in the bottom of the fourth as Kiley Goff earned a walk and eventually came home on a double by Hess to make the score 3-1.

The fifth inning saw the Noles capitalize on three hits and an error to plate three runs and take a 4-3 lead.

Louisville battled back in the home half of the fifth when Richards drew a leadoff walk and crossed the plate on Paige Geraghty's RBI hit to even the score at 4-4.

Florida State regained the lead in the sixth, using a hit and an error to plate three unearned runs and tacked on another run in the seventh, extending the lead to 8-4.

The Cardinals had a runner in scoring position with Maddi Grant's two-out double in the seventh inning, but the final score stood at 8-4.

Sam Booe (2-3) took the loss, after surrendering three unearned runs on one hit in relief. Frizell and Hess each finished the game with two hits, each tallying a double.

Makenna Reid (11-1) was credited with the win after holding the Cardinals scoreless on two hits and striking out two in 2.1 innings. Edenfield went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and a home run to lead the Seminoles at the plate.
