
Cards Finish Day One of the Lake Wheeler Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Louisville rowing team completed day one of the Lake Wheeler Invitational Friday afternoon.

In the morning session, the Cardinals' second varsity eight finished third in its heat just two-tenths of a second behind second-place Iowa and ahead of Clemson, Navy and North Carolina. The varsity eight turned in a time of 6:56.079, good for a fourth place showing. The third varsity eight (7:57.838) and the varsity four (8:40.519) placed sixth in their respective first-round heats.

In the second session of the day, the V8 boat finished fourth at 7:10.393 with the V28 posting a fourth-place finish with a time of 7:23.196 and the 3V8s coming in at 7:48.196 to finish fourth in their second heat. The V4 boat finished sixth in its second round heat.

Action will resume on Saturday with the 3V8 boat hitting the water at 9 a.m. followed by the V4 (10 a.m.) and the 2V8 (10:30 a.m.) with the V8 wrapping up the day at 11 a.m.
